Taipei, Taiwan, July 1, 2009 – E-One Moli Energy Corp. (Molicel), a global lithium-ion battery developer and manufacturer, said Wednesday it constructs a new lithium-ion battery plant in Taiwan. Monthly production capacity reaches 12 million units.

The new plant is next to Taiwan 1st plant, located in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, and construction work is slated for completion by the end of 2009. With the increasing demand of lithium-ion batteries for the automotive and energy storage system, E-One Moli has developed advanced lithium-ion battery technologies to provide the safe and high reliabilities, with competitive cost, batteries for its customers.

Many countries show increasing interest in environment-friendly, rechargeable batteries for sustainability and CO2 reduction. Lithium-ion batteries can hold more energy than the nickel- metal hydride and are widely predicted to replace nickel metal-hydride batteries currently used in most hybrid vehicles. Currently, E-One Moli is working with strategic partners to co-develop the next-generation lithium-ion battery for transportation and electrical energy storage. Taking into the reliability, performance, and safety into consideration, the battery will be abuse-tolerant, wide operating temperature, long calendar life, and cost effective. The company has supplied lithium-ion batteries for world-wide car markers, such as BMW in Europe and some other companies in North America and in Asia.

The expansion will make E-One Moli be one of the world's top manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries and meet the market needs.
